Nina Dobrev discusses Vampire Diaries: Season 3 and how Elena is reacting to Stefan's big changes. Plus, can Katherine be redeemed?

For those of you worried about Emma’s first role post Harry Potter, Nina assures fans that Ms. Hermione Granger has it covered. "I think they're going to be excited to see her in something else," says Nina. "And see her spread her wings and try different things. It's always exciting to see someone you love do something different and see a different side of them." Speaking of which, Dobrev herself is slipping into a very different persona from the one we see on The Vampire Diaries.

"My character is a victim of abuse," Dobrev says. "So she's abused, and [my brother] Charlie [played by Logan Lerman] witnesses that. That's kind of my drama of the movie."

"I think that we're all really happy for each other," Dobrev said when asked if she felt a kinship with the Twilight stars. "I'm very happy that they exist because we exist because of them. Their success is our success."

PopWrap: What excites you about the possibilities this raises for season three?
Nina: The entire third season is like a blank slate – I think it’s going to feel like a completely new show now that Stefan has gone to the dark side. He will be with Klaus and I think that’ll set up a dark shift because when we started Damon was the mysterious one with all the fog following him [laughs]. Now I think we’ll see that come back with Stefan and Elena is turned around because she doesn’t know what to do.
