Michael Trevino discusses Tyler Lockwood transformation

We now know that Michael Trevino's Tyler is going to start traveling down the same path as Mason Lockwood, with us getting the unique opportunity to sit back and watch how a werewolf handles the process for the first time, similar to what we're seeing from Caroline as a new vampire.

So has Trevino been through the "changing" experience yet? He explains in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:

"We have not shot that. I think we might shoot that next week. It’s gotta be soon. I’m not sure how exactly it’s gonna happen, to be honest with you. I would think that he’s gonna go down to those old ruins were Mason was and probably do what he was doing and just lock himself up. And hopefully he doesn’t hurt anybody. He won’t be able to control himself, especially the first time."

Trevino also claims that this whole process will be more interesting thanks to the fact that he is unaware that vampires are even running around in Mystic Falls (thanks to Damon's brain drain during season one).

2.08 - "Rose" CW Extended Promo

Episode 2x08 "Rose" Promo

Nina Dobrev does not want a Vampire Diaries musical

Though "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder admitted to MTV News a few weeks ago that he'd love to play a Sweeney Todd-type character for a musical episode of his CW series, co-star Nina Dobrev isn't so sure about the whole song-and-dance. When we caught up with the pretty actress at Spike's Scream Awards, she nixed the idea of a musical episode.

"I don't know if we're ever going to do a musical episode," she said. "I don't think that we will."

Just to be clear—it's not because Nina isn't a fan of musicals. In fact, she admitted to us that she's a huge Gleek. "I love musicals," she said. Rather, Nina doesn't see showtunes fitting in with the serious tone of the series.

"I think we want to keep it dark and mysterious," she said. "If you jump out into song and dance, it changes the whole thing—not in a bad way. It's not our thing."

Nina, Paul, Ian and others Reveal Their Favorite Halloween Costumes

Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries): "Last year I was Mrs. Willy Wonka with a purple jacket and top hat, but I accidentally left my giant lollipop in my car."

Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries): "I always end up as a guy in a wifebeater, with a mullet and a beer can. Not entirely original, but for some reason I enjoy the hell out of being that guy."

Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries): "Once in New Orleans, we found these antique masks from the 1800's. We put them on and I remember feeling this ancient magical energy rush through me."

Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries): "I was the Raphael Ninja Turtle one year and that's still the best costume I ever had."

Michael Trevino (The Vampire Diaries): "My friend and I both dressed up as Ghostbusters but I ended up looking more like a robber."

Matt Davis (The Vampire Diaries): "I went trick-or-treating in my birthday suit once."

Katerina Graham (The Vampire Diaries): "I think (executive producer) Kevin Williamson would appreciate knowing that I went as the Scream guy. Parents complained that I was scaring their kids so I had to take the mask off."

New Ausiello Spoiler!

Question: Do you know any Vampire Diaries scoop? —Savannah
Ausiello: Trent Ford and Daniel Gillies have joined the show along with Lauren Cohan as centuries old vampires, Trevor, Elijah, and Rose. “They have deep ties to Katerina Petrova,” reveals exec producer Julie Plec. “They will be heavily featured in November Sweeps episodes ‘Rose’ and ‘Katerina’.”

Ian Somerhalder : “Blood freaks me out!”

Ian Somehalder has admitted that he is freaked out by blood! The actor, who plays hot vampire Damon Salvatore in hit US show The Vampire Diaries has revealed that his dislike was "a little strange", but added that he manages to overcome it when getting into character.

"I actually don't like blood. It freaks me out, a little bit," Ian Somerhalder said yesterday. "But when you think about being hungry, and you think about a time when you were stuck on a plane or you were somewhere without food, or you see people who are starving in the world, and you think about how intense that is, and then you imagine being a vampire and having 160 years of life experience. So, trying to inhabit someone who has that much knowledge of the world is a feat."

Somerhalder also added that he loves playing the 'free-spirited and light-hearted', not to mention HOT Salvatore brother. "He is a lot of fun, and I've been really lucky in this role, he's the most fun character I've ever had the opportunity to play."

Taylor Kinney talks about torture scene

The most intense part of "Plan B" occurred of course near the end, when Taylor Kinney's life as Mason Lockwood was tragically cut short. What happened? To be specific, the werewolf character's heart was yanked out be Ian Somerhalder's Damon. He opened up briefly to Entertainment Weekly following the episode about what it was like shooting that difficult scene:

“Some of the times when we’d get rolling with it, it seemed really real. Ian wasn’t holding back. I think that guy was really trying to kill me. We made the most of it, and it turned out great."

Kinney admitted that he actually angered co-star Nina Dobrev for a little while when he actually spoiled his demise on the show, saying that she prefers to read about it in the script before she has anyone else tell her.

Ian wrote an article for Huffingtonpost

While some kids grow up eating hot dogs and playing tag in their backyard, I grew up in Louisiana swimming in Lake Pontchartrain, fishing in the bayous, and eating Gulf seafood. Like everyone else on the Gulf coast, these waters are literally part of who I am. Over the past six months, I've watched the BP oil disaster unfold and threaten to change not only the lives of my friends and family, but the very culture of those who grew up on the Gulf.

Instead of spending the past summer boating, swimming and fishing, Gulf families have spent these last few months worrying about whether they'd be able to make rent on their fishing boats, whether they could afford enough fresh fish to keep their restaurants open, or whether they could find enough people to keep the rooms at their hotels full as the regular seasonal tourists failed to arrive. And just as oil still lingers in the Louisiana marshes, these concerns haven't gone away just because the TV cameras have.

Though six months have passed since the Deepwater Horizon sank and millions of gallons of oil started spewing into the Gulf of Mexico, we are still far from saying, "mission accomplished." Many people that rely on the rich fisheries and diverse ecosystems of the Gulf to keep their industries going--including shrimpers and oystermen, waitresses and charter boat captains -- are still hurting. We can't just forget about them.

If we want to rebuild the Gulf economy and preserve its special and unique way of life for future generations, we need to move full speed ahead with the recovery and restoration of the Gulf coast. A disaster like this can never happen again. A healthy Gulf -- full of oysters and shrimp, brown pelicans and turtles -- is not only the cornerstone of the Gulf economy, but also of Gulf culture and Gulf people.

But we cannot protect the Gulf, or protect oilrig workers from potentially deadly accidents, if in the wake of this catastrophe we rush right back to "drill, baby, drill." Promises from oil companies will not protect the Gulf from further damage, nor will they protect the jobs of local fishermen, restaurant owners, and tourism industry workers during the long recovery ahead -- let alone keep them at work if another disaster happens.

I grew up with people whose livelihoods depend on the oil and gas industry, and I know that the industry has very deep roots in the Gulf and particularly Louisiana. Even coming from that perspective, though, the irrefutable truth is that we need better laws in place to regulate how we drill off our shores -- laws that will protect the wildlife and coastlines that Gulf coast residents depend on to pay the bills and bring home dinner each night.

The BP oil spill, the largest accidental oil spill in human history, is only the latest, most visible evidence of the kind of environmental destruction that has been going on in the Gulf for decades. Louisiana loses a football field of wetlands every 45 minutes -- and nearly 60 percent of that is attributed to the oil and gas activity that has ravaged our beloved bayous for years.

The fact that a mere six months after BP's terrible disaster, the government has already made the decision to lift the moratorium and allow deepwater drilling to resume is shocking to me. This is just the latest indication that Washington isn't taking into account the lives and livelihoods of those who live along the gulf coast and depend on its waters. Until we know that regulations are effective and that all the gaps that allowed the BP oil spill to happen have been closed, we have no business continuing to drill. There is simply too much to lose.

Obviously, we should all be working to reduce our dependence on dirty fossil fuels, and turning toward clean energy technologies that do not pose a threat to our shorelines, our way of life, or our environment; however, that transition will take some time. In the immediate future, we, the citizens of an oil addicted nation, need to step forward and urge the government to take responsibility and help make coastal communities whole again -- by holding BP accountable, conducting short and long-term monitoring, and investing in economic opportunities to support locally-driven, sustainable recovery that restores and enhances America's Gulf coast.

We can't undo our past mistakes, but we can make sure that the clear warning broadcast by this spill and its terrible aftermath haven't been in vain. Rather than going right back to our old ways, let's chart a new path to a cleaner, more sustainable future. All the Gulf's residents are counting on us; we can't afford to let them -- or countless other coastal communities -- down again.

Nina Dobrev on trip to Bulgaria and more hot scenes to come

Dobrev has been working double duty this season as both Elena and Katherine. She was in nearly every scene of "Memory Lane," but she's not complaining about the long hours. Does she even need sleep? "I'm a vampire, no," she laughs. "It's a lot of hard work. It's really awesome, and I'm one of the luckiest people I know. It's a lot of hard work, long hours... we shoot a lot of nights, and dual characters are pulling double duty."

Ian Somerhalder: Damon is over Katherine

As we've seen in promos for next week's "Vampire Diaries," Damon isn't playing Mr. Nice Vamp with Katherine (Dobrev) anymore. But in this twisted world, just because he's hunting her, it doesn't necessarily mean he's over her... or is he?

Somerhalder says they're finished. "You know, I think he's done with her. Katherine's a bitch," he laughs. And as for a showdown between Damon and Katherine's wolfy beau, Mason (Taylor Kinney): "Yeah, that's coming," Somerhalder says, giving me his patented Damon smirk.

"There is a major showdown and it was a lot of long days of shooting. Taylor's awesome, we adore each other, and it's so funny that we have to hate each other. He's a sweetie pie, and he's one handsome son of a bitch."

Kevin Williamson: 4 clues to what's coming on!

Only a handful of episodes into the second season of The Vampire Diaries and all kinds of crazy's going on. Elena Gilbert's vampire doppelganger Katherine Pierce (both played by Nina Dobrev) is in Mystic Falls up to no good, Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) is still dealing with being turned. And a zillion secrets are being kept.

The man in charge of making some sense of all the drama is show runner Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson's Creek) and he shared some secrets with Blastr about what fans can expect this season (and next!).

Damon and Elena Shippers ... Don't hold your breath.
A big faction of The Vampire Diaries fandom is hoping that Elena will reject her good guy vampire beau Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) for his bad boy brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) but Williamson says he isn't having it.

"Damon's on this really weird journey of being torn between being good and being bad. He does good things and then he turns around and does bad things," Williamson sighs. "He's very volatile and impulsive, and I think he has to decide if he's going to be a friend. He has to learn what it takes to be someone's friend, and a girl's friend. He's screwed up. Everyone love Damon, but he's not worthy of [Elena] ... yet."

Matt Donovan and Caroline Forbes' love might not be doomed.
This Mystic Falls couple is fresh off a bad breakup (she had to do it since she's a vamp and can't tell him) and now Matt's (Zach Roerig) nursing a broken, and confused, heart. But Williamson teases their connection is far from over yet.

"I think the fun of their relationship is that it's going to be tragic," he smiles. "Matt is such a standup guy and he's going to let her deal with her stuff. But ultimately, he also hides everything and keeps it inside. He's a man and used to being there for his sister and mother. I think he keeps it all in. Sometimes you just want him to ... express himself. But whenever he does, he kind of gets slapped in the face. We'll see what happens but there is a long story there and it's really juicy."

Speaking of Matt, Mr. Clueless might get clued into the town's weirdness soon.
Williamson offers, "I think eventually he'll get highly suspicious of everything going on around him and it will be interesting to watch whether or not someone is going to come clean to him or not ... and it might not be who you expect."

Look for more a lot more mythology to be revealed.
"One of the interesting things about what we are doing this year is telling the werewolf story and more of the mythology going back in time to learn Catherine's damage and what happened way back when that foretold the future. Also what is this Mystic Falls place? Why is it this a hotbed of supernatural activity?

"In the book, they have this mythology about all this blood being shed in this town during the Civil War. Wherever there was bloodshed, it attracted all the things that go bump in the night like vampires, werewolves and witches. I have another mythology that expands on that as to why Mystic Falls ultimately becomes one of these places that draws all this stuff to it."

He promises.: "All that will be in the third season,"

Ask Ausiello: Vampire Diaries Spoilers

Question: You’ve been skimping on The Vampire Diaries scoop lately. – Katie
Ausiello: No, I haven’t, you’d just been demanding more, more, more. (And ya know it, too.) Anyway, Damon’s about to get a new lust interest — a fellow vamp named Rose. Who, please, please, please, will be played by the Katharine Isabelle (the she-wolf from the Ginger Snaps trilogy).

Vampire Diaries to kill off character

Get ready. The show with some of the best twists—and sexiest cast—around is serving up a jaw-dropper you fans won't want to miss.

No, not $#*! My Dad Says, silly! We're talking about the CW's über-addictive The Vampire Diaries, and this particular twist means that a certain actor is leaving the series...

According to reliable sources, The Vampire Diaries will be killing off one of its characters. And it won't be the Jeremy-got-his-neck-snapped-but-was-wearing-a-magic-ring kind of death. This one will be for good. The character will be no more. And the actor will no longer be working on the show.

That's all we can reveal because we don't have our own magic ring, but suffice to say it will be some TV that is dipped in all kinds of awesome—even though the actor will certainly be missed.

So who is it? Guesses?

And don't forget to watch new episodes of The Vampire Diaries every Thursday on the CW. This death could happen any time!

Katherine gets Medieval, Mystic Falls gets darker: What's next on The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries press room at NYCC, we found out why Elena and Damon won't become an item any time soon. And we discovered exactly what Vampire Diaries and True Blood share. Spoilers ahead...

We spoke producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, plus actors Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy), Sara Canning (Jenna), Zach Roerig (Matt) and Katerina Graham (Bonnie).

The next four episodes in particular are promised to contain "an explosion of information" and by Thanksgiving, we'll all know more about several lingering backstories. When someone asked about deviating from the canon of the books, Plec explained that the showrunners were excited to be able to "go there" and shock people with new takes on the original source material as well as their own addition.

McQueen said JMeremy wants "in" and has valuable information. He may have a new, "dabbling" love interest, as yet unwritten — but it could be someone that we know. Meanwhile, Roerig said Matt may learn the truth about what's happening in Mystic Falls — but it won't be from anyone you'd expect.

Those infamous flashbacks will start stretching back before the 19th century. Apparently, the episode showing Katherine Pierce's origin story is being shot now, and will be the story of who she was and why she became who she is. And the producers and stars hinted that Katherine's origin is medieval — the date of 1490 and a setting of Bulgaria were mentioned. But Williamson also mentioned England and Russia, and said the flashback episodes would air in November.

We heard that the production had to borrow the trained wolves used on the set of True Blood, because their own wolves didn't work out ("they were a disaster"). The show is excited to be going the "shapeshifter route" and experimenting with werewolves, but put forth the idea that half the reason the supernatural creatures aren't as popular as vampires is that wolves are tricky to work with and people with hair glued on their faces look patently ridiculous.

When a reporter from Seventeen brought up that their readers are obsessed with the Elena/Damon pairing, Williamson clearly was in no hurry to throw them together anytime soon for cheap drama's sake. He said that Damon is not yet worthy of Elena's friendship. Williamson thinks it's better to "want to want them together," a sentiment perhaps left over from his days writing Joey and Dawson on Dawson's Creek. He "wants the kiss, the sweaty palms" effect with his characters' romantic entanglements.

But one person who may make a special connection with Damon is Bonnie — Graham said she may go toe-to-toe with Damon once again.

Like the small town his other teen drama revolved around, Williamson was particularly drawn to The Vampire Diaries because it centered around a community, and he's keen to explore more in that direction — literally, what is "the hellmouth of it all?" Mystic Falls is a place where the scars of Civil War bloodshed run deep, and the fact of the town's complicity in supernatural events will figure more into the storyline. There's also going to be a Masquerade ball, everyone's favorite plot device for sexy intrigue.

A True Blood fansite asked Williamson do a pitch for why its fans should watch The Vampire Diaries: he replied that the show occupies the space between "Twilight" and True Blood, and that while he knows True Blood really "goes to the crazy place," his own series "tries not to be a CW show" and has a vibe all its own.

EOnline's Spoilers for Bamon, Bonnie etc

Nell in Massachuetts: The Vampire Diaries might be the most exciting show on TV right now. Got spoilers on what's to come for my faves?
Sorry, Bamon shippers! (Anyone?) Looks like Bonnie (Katerina Graham) is going to be meeting a new guy. His name is Luka (awesome name), and he's comfortable with her powers because his history professor father taught him all about the Salem witches. Oh, and he has a family secret of his own that he shares with Ms. Bonnie, maybe before she's ready...

Biggest Time Leap Will Reveal Katherine’s Origin

The CW’s ‘The Vampire Diaries‘ will take viewers on their biggest trip through time to shed light on Elena’s dark doppelganger.
“The episode that we start shooting on Tuesday is set around 1490″ – and in Bulgaria – executive producer Julie Plec shared backstage at New York Comic-Con on Sunday. “We’ve talked about wanting to show Katherine’s origin story, and it is cool.”

Adds exec producer Kevin Williamson, “We go back in time to show a lot about how Katherine (played by Nina Dobrev) came to become who she was. We answer a lot of questions” – including a few burning ones concerning her ties to the Petrova clan, her beginnings as a bloodsucker, and why she’s an undead ringer for Elena.

After this trip to circa-1490 Bulgaria (tentatively set to air Nov. 11), Plec hopes to later this season present another flashback “to understand how [Katherine] ended up in Mystic Falls.” As the showrunner notes, “There’s a lot to story to tell with her as long as she’s still kicking!”
But is ‘Vampire Diaries’ unspooling too much juicy story too quickly in its rousing, jam-packed sophomore season? Williamson shrugs off any concern that his team will run out of steam. In fact, he says they’re already mapping out the beginnings of Season 3.
For now, though, “We’re trying to figure out the breaking point – where we are going to stop at the end of this season,” he says. “We kind of know what we want for our season finale, we know what the cliffhanger is already, so [it's all a matter of] ‘What do I get in there before?’”
