Kevin Williamson: 4 clues to what's coming on!
Only a handful of episodes into the second season of The Vampire Diaries and all kinds of crazy's going on. Elena Gilbert's vampire doppelganger Katherine Pierce (both played by Nina Dobrev) is in Mystic Falls up to no good, Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) is still dealing with being turned. And a zillion secrets are being kept.
The man in charge of making some sense of all the drama is show runner Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson's Creek) and he shared some secrets with Blastr about what fans can expect this season (and next!).
Damon and Elena Shippers ... Don't hold your breath.
A big faction of The Vampire Diaries fandom is hoping that Elena will reject her good guy vampire beau Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) for his bad boy brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) but Williamson says he isn't having it.
"Damon's on this really weird journey of being torn between being good and being bad. He does good things and then he turns around and does bad things," Williamson sighs. "He's very volatile and impulsive, and I think he has to decide if he's going to be a friend. He has to learn what it takes to be someone's friend, and a girl's friend. He's screwed up. Everyone love Damon, but he's not worthy of [Elena] ... yet."
Matt Donovan and Caroline Forbes' love might not be doomed.
This Mystic Falls couple is fresh off a bad breakup (she had to do it since she's a vamp and can't tell him) and now Matt's (Zach Roerig) nursing a broken, and confused, heart. But Williamson teases their connection is far from over yet.
"I think the fun of their relationship is that it's going to be tragic," he smiles. "Matt is such a standup guy and he's going to let her deal with her stuff. But ultimately, he also hides everything and keeps it inside. He's a man and used to being there for his sister and mother. I think he keeps it all in. Sometimes you just want him to ... express himself. But whenever he does, he kind of gets slapped in the face. We'll see what happens but there is a long story there and it's really juicy."
Speaking of Matt, Mr. Clueless might get clued into the town's weirdness soon.
Williamson offers, "I think eventually he'll get highly suspicious of everything going on around him and it will be interesting to watch whether or not someone is going to come clean to him or not ... and it might not be who you expect."
Look for more a lot more mythology to be revealed.
"One of the interesting things about what we are doing this year is telling the werewolf story and more of the mythology going back in time to learn Catherine's damage and what happened way back when that foretold the future. Also what is this Mystic Falls place? Why is it this a hotbed of supernatural activity?
"In the book, they have this mythology about all this blood being shed in this town during the Civil War. Wherever there was bloodshed, it attracted all the things that go bump in the night like vampires, werewolves and witches. I have another mythology that expands on that as to why Mystic Falls ultimately becomes one of these places that draws all this stuff to it."
He promises.: "All that will be in the third season,"
